Position Summary: Responsible for supervising children in the afterschool program. Hours are 2:15 - 6:00 pm daily and 10:45am - 4:00p.m. on early release days.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  • Supervises the classroom
  • Plans activities for the children in LEC
  • Helps with the general housekeeping tasks
  • Maintains a professional attitude and loyalty to the school at all times
  • Treats all children with dignity and respect
  • Helps to maintain a neat and organized classroom
  • Helps children establish good habits of personal hygiene
  • Supervises all activities to ensure safety at all times
  • Reports to the Director any problem which may occur with the children
  • Performs additional program duties as assigned by the Director according to the school’s needs
  • Participates in dismissal procedures at the end of after care, ensuring that each child leaves with the appropriate adult
  • Greets parents and children with salutations and smiles
  • Works with other staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere
  • Participates in Eagle Expo prior to school
  • Participates in CPR – First Aid training

QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to children and parents/guardians, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the school’s program and philosophy.

 

Language Ability:

Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, handbooks, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of students and staff.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should demonstrate a reasonable level of computer literacy.  Basic proficiency is needed in word processing, e-mailing, accessing the Internet, school management software.

 

Spiritually, it is expected that the employee will

  • demonstrate a desire for spiritual growth, as evidenced by his/her prayer life, Bible study, and spiritual outreach to others;

Supervisory Responsibilities: Employee is responsible for the safe supervision of students both inside and outside the classroom including, but not limited to the lunchroom, hallways, playground, and carline.
